Eliane Elias, the famous pianist-composer is known for her distinct and immediately recognizable musical type, which mixes her Brazilian roots with an impressive jazz style. In Sao Paulo (Brazil), she is considered as belonging to the new and younger generation. She started to study the piano at the age of 7, played already the solos of the large Masters of jazz at the age of 12. Before her fifteen's birthday, she began to teach the piano in Brazil. Her career started in her native land at the age of 17, playing Brazilian songs from Toquinho and the poet Vinicius de Moraes who is also an Antonio Carlos Jobim author. In 1981, she went to New York. In 1984, her first album "Amanda" was a collaboration with the trumpet player Randy Brecker.
Very quickly, her career solo started, with more than fifteen albums on the label "Blue Note".
In 1997, Eliane Elias has been nominated in five categories: "Beyond Musician", "Best composer", "Jazz Pianist ", "Female Vocalist", and "Musician of the Year".
 
The same year, her album "The Three Americas" has been awarded "Best jazz album ".
  The album "Sings Jobim" has been number one in Japan during more than three months and has been regarded as the best Brazilian album by jazz criticisms in 1999.
She recorded with Joe Henderson (famous saxophonist), James Taylor (known for his interpretation of the Carol King's famous song, "You've got a friend") and other song's legends.
She received a nomination in Grammy for the "Best jazz big band album" in 2001.
She is known as one of the best interpreters of Jobim's music, with two tribute's album to the Master, "Plays Jobim" and "Sings Jobim".
